What we do and don’t know about military intervention in Libya

I tried to put this comment below on Carl’s post at TCF but WordPress for some reason was down and wouldn’t let me say anything.

So……We have a war, we don’t know who is in charge, people who seem to be in charge don’t want to be in charge, we know there’s squabbling by the West, we don’t know who the rebels are, we don’t know how long the West is gonna commit for i.e. next week or next year, we don’t know the remit, we don’t know if there will be a land invasion (lots of ambiguity!), we don’t know the aims/endgame i.e. regime change or supporting rebels, we don’t know what weapons are being used on the Libyans, we don’t know how many are dead, why they are dead, who killed them, how many Libyans have fled the country, we don’t know what the military targets have been so far…..

But what we do know is that Parliament voted to support the UN resolution regarding military action AFTER it happened (shouldn’t this debate have happened last Friday?), what we do know is that MPs voted in favour with 13 honourable exceptions, what we also know is that the public is not happy about this war, what definitely know is that ConDems can afford bombs but not public services….

What we do know is that Israel is bombing Gaza….
