Two hydro power plant to be set up in North Tapanuli

Tarutung, North Sumatra, 8 / 4 (AFP) - Two hydroelectric power capacity of 2 × 5 megawatts will be built in North Tapanuli, North Sumatra, as an effort to meet electricity needs in the area.

"Both projects were built on the cooperation of state enterprises and local-owned enterprises," said North Tapanuli Sekdakab Tarutung Sanggam Hutagalung on Friday.

According to him, the power plant will be built in Batangtoru-3 Pearaja, District Pahae Julu, who worked PT Alam Lestari Blessing Energy (BALE) and in Batangtoru-4 Pearaja by PT Indah Alam Sustainable Energy (IALE).

He said the area needed for the construction of two small-capacity power plants that range from 35 hectares, and contractual agreements of cooperation between the two companies with the community over the past 25 years has been signed.

"After 25 years of work contract is completed, the company must submit two projects to local governments for further management," said Sakkan.

Both companies were already doing the early stages of development by preparing a number of permits, including consent principle of Regents of North Tapanuli, permit the location of the land acquisition, environmental monitoring and management efforts.

Both power plants are targeted to be ready to operate in 2012. *** 5 ***
