President Attends Commemoration Day of the Republic of India


NEW DELHI (AFP): President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono attended the memorial's 61st Republic Day of India in New Delhi, Wednesday [26.01], as principal or chief guest of the guest.

Indian Republic Day is celebrated every January 26 is the day that marks the birth of the Indian constitution as a republic.

The main activities in the anniversary of the republic which became one of national holiday in India is a parade featuring military and cultural attractions of India from all over the province of former British colonies.

Parade held in the capital New Delhi starting from Raisina Hill near the Rashtrapati Bhavan Presidential Palace, along the Rajpath, and through India Gate was built to honor the unknown hero.

Each year the Government of India to invite a head of state / government of another country to act as the main guest at the Republic Day celebration.

Invite as main guest at the Republic Day parade is the highest award from the Indian government to the heads of friendly countries that signifies the special relationship between the two countries.

On the first anniversary of India's Republic Day January 26, 1950 that acts as the main guest was President Sukarno.

Heads of State / Government who had been a principal guest was Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2007, French President Nicolas Sarkozy in 2008, and South Korean President Lee Myung Bak in 2010.

Republic Day celebration parade through the main streets in the city of New Delhi while the iron chairs placed at the curb as a place to watch for the guests invited.

The President is scheduled to arrive at the Presidential Palace Rashtrapati Bhavan to attend India's Republic Day at 09.00 local time or 10.30 pm and with the President of India Pratibha Patil Devisingh watch the parade.

Parade begins after India's national flag-raising that accompanied India's national anthem and cannon boom as much as 21 times.

After attending the Republic Day of India, the President was accompanied by First Lady Ani Yudhoyono is scheduled to attend the warm-hearted with the Indonesian community living in India.

In the event hospitality in the Indonesian Embassy in New Delhi, the President and lunch and give direction to the Indonesian community in India.
