Not Main, Jakpus Need USD 32 Billion ...

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - In the middle of a metropolitan city like Jakarta DKI pick the wheels of the economy so fast, it's not likely see any dilapidated schools. In fact, in Central Jakarta alone there are about 32 schools that need major rehabilitation funds. One of them is SMP 273 Kampung Bali.

The condition of these schools seem concerned with the two laboratories that no longer used because in April of 2010 collapsed the roof of the laboratory. Building built in 1952 is no longer able to fight the growing age eaten rotten time.

"When it rains suddenly collapsed. In fact, the children had just finished studying in the lab. Thankfully, no one hit," said one teacher SMP 273 Kampung Bali, on Wednesday (01/26/2011), when found at the school.

Two rooms collapsed and is now open to the sky is the food laboratory and a laboratory machine. Food Laboratory in fact transformed into a motorcycle parking lot, while the lab machines totally unused and is left stranded by the falling timbers leech in it.

"The rest of the other classes are good and solid as it can help, one of the Pawnshop," said the teacher.

Head of the Central Jakarta District Education Office, Alex Ismail, said that currently there are 91 elementary and junior high sites whose condition is alarming in central Jakarta.

"I try to be rehabilitated in 2009 in 17 locations, while in 2010 there are 42 locations. It's all heavy rehab," he said.

Not yet finished it at that. Because, continued Alex, there's still another 32 schools that have not received rehabilitation funding. For rehabilitation needs, the total funds needed by government to reach USD 32 billion.

"The remaining Rp 32 billion that we're trying to budget in 2011," he concluded.
