VIVAnews – The Jakarta police are preparing seven thousand officers to anticipate possible protests that may be held on the coming May 1 as a commemoration of the International Workers’ Day.
“Seven thousand personnel will be ready,” said Chief of Operation Bureau at the Jakarta Police Department, Chief. Comm. Jarno on Wednesday.
Protesters are expected to gather around the Presidential Palace, Parliamentary complex, Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration, Bundaran HI, and the National Monument.
Jarno said a number of Workers’ Unions have notified about the planned actions to the police.
However, despite the scheduled protests, some unions have also lined up to set several events such as blood donor, tree planting and sports events.
