There was a bit of encouraging news coming from South Carolina during the earning season. SCANA Corporation, the only Fortune 500 corporation in the state, issued a presentation that included a progress report on its V. C. Summer New Nuclear Deployment (NND) project. Here is an extract of that presentation showing the original budget, the current projected budget and the actual expenditures.

I like the trend. If you want to learn more about the project, SCANA maintains an informative page on their web site with plenty of history and updated links. I especially enjoyed the presentation that Jeff Archie, Senior VP of Nuclear Operations gave on April 8, 2010 during SCANA's annual analyst day. If you like seeing big machinery moving a lot of dirt and lifting heavy fabricated components, you will love clicking through his slide show and seeing the progress pictures.
