When STOMPer TTM-SPOTTERS saw a man standing on the ledge of the eighth storey in a Jurong West block, he knew something was wrong. It turns out that the commotion was started by a man who had just broken up with his girlfriend.

Residents nearby came out of their homes to witness the drama and commotion, which lasted for three hours on October 20 and ended with the arrest of a man for attempted suicide.

Police and SCDF officers did a good job in getting the distraught man to safety, TTM-SPOTTERS says.

According to the October 22 edition of The New Paper, the man was standing outside his ex-girlfriend's home, threatening to kill himself.

He had slashed his wrist before wanting to jump off the building, leaving a blood trail along the corridor, staircase and railings.

Reporters also noted that a pieces of a broken bottle were let along the corridor and a bloody handprint on the wall outside the girl's flat.

The man was apparently drunk and resisted police intervention at first but got tired later on.

In an email, the STOMPer recounts what he witnessed:

'This whole ordeal happened at around 9pm on October 20.

'It all took place at Jurong West St 81.

'A Chinese man was seen standing at the eighth floor, wanting to jump down.

'Everything ended when the man surrendered.

'All thanks to the SCDF for their fast and efficient communication skills, which prevented the man from jumping :)'.
